Our Practice
1. Women's & Jarjum Groups
2. Camps & Retreats
3. Events
4. Capacity Building & Educational Workshops

We create safe spaces for healing and growth.
Healing on country.
Events that honour, celebrate and empower women.
Capacity building for the sector.
1. Women’s & Jarjums Groups
Ya’djin Women’s Collective creates culturally held, trauma-informed spaces for women and jarjums (children) impacted by DFV & SA to gather, yarn, heal and grow.
Our weekly groups meet in Magan-djin (Brisbane) and Tulmur (Ipswich). These gatherings are places to fill your cup through culture, creativity, connection and shared meals. Women support one another, advocate together and can access counselling and other relevant supports in a safe environment.
Jarjums are always welcome. During school holidays, children are invited to lead activities connected to healing, self-care, creativity and preparing food together.
Our groups are the watering hole — a place to return, reconnect and be strengthened.
2. Camps & Retreats
Ya’djin hosts and supports culturally grounded camps and retreats across South East Queensland.
These gatherings create space for women to step away from daily pressures and reconnect with themselves, each other and Country. Through cultural practices, rest, shared meals and collective reflection, women build strength and deepen healing together.
Some retreats are First Nations-specific; others are open to all women. The focus remains on connection, recovery and collective renewal.
3. Events
Ya’djin acknowledges, participates in and hosts events that centre women, First Nations peoples and the prevention of DFV & SA.
These include:
-
International Women’s Day
-
DV Prevention Month
-
Reconciliation Week
-
NAIDOC Week
-
National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day
-
Sexual Violence Awareness Month
-
Reclaim the Night
These moments are opportunities to gather, advocate and amplify community voices.
4. Capacity Building & Educational Workshops
We believe strong women build strong communities.
Ya’djin builds capacity within community by supporting women — particularly Safe Aunties and First Responders — to gain knowledge, training and confidence to respond to DFV & SA safely and effectively.
We support access to training such as:
-
First Aid
-
Blue Card / Working with Vulnerable People
-
Mental Health First Aid
-
De-escalation and trauma-informed practice
We also deliver education through:
-
Cultural Practice Framework training
-
Immersion retreats
-
Guest speaking
-
Weaving, art and dance workshops
Our goal is to strengthen culturally safe responses and empower communities to lead change.
